Bideford Learning Community

Bideford Learning Community aims to provide initiatives, support and discussion forums for all teachers within the schools of the Bideford area of north Devon.

We are dedicated to the effective sharing of good practice amongst our partner schools and to building a relevant, creative curriculum for all our youngsters.

The BLC area stretches some 20 miles from Hartland in the west to Instow in the east and encompasses small villages, farming communities and the larger conurbation of Bideford. This wide mixture of rural and urban areas; some affluent, and some amongst the poorest in the region combine to provide a specific set of challenges to teaching within the BLC.

The BLC is organised with a rotating Chairperson ship. Currently, our Chair is Susan Freeman, head teacher of Appledore Primary. The Vice Chairperson is Babs Johnson, Head teacher of St George's C of E Infants, Northam. You can find out more about the structure and focus of the BLC here.
